It is a scary feeling when your jaw suddenly locks, it feels like something is stuck and you’re somewhat right! A locked jaw (trismus) occurs when the jaw joint is pulled into a dysfunctional position causing a severe limitation in the range of motion. This is usually caused by a muscle spasm in muscles we use for eating.
